Serena Lotz

Serena has been involved in animal rescue since 2012. She started as a volunteer with A New Leash on Life (ANLOL) in Huntsville, AL helping in the thrift store, cleaning the adoption center, and transporting pets to events to be adopted. She quickly became a Core Volunteer, able to help wherever needed. She was trained as an adoption counselor and foster home liaison helping hundreds of cats and dogs find their forever homes. In 2013, ANLOL saved 500 lives, but by the time Serena left in 2018 to return home to Colorado, that number had tripled.

It takes the support of a community to save lives. That number would not have tripled without the financial support of the community that shopped at the thrift stores and donated monies. The number of lives saved came from getting the word out and having adoption events, fundraising events, and working with other groups to save lives. Serena’s ability to work inter-personally, collaboratively, and tirelessly reveals her humility and heart to help those animals who cannot help themselves. Her goal is to give back to the cat and dog community the joy and love that animals bring to our daily lives. Cats and dogs depend on us for everything and we should do everything we can to help them.
